One killed, two off-duty troopers injured in Wicomico County crash

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – One person was killed and two off duty Maryland state troopers were injured in a Friday night crash in Wicomico County.

Police say 62-year-old John Simmons was killed in the crash and 23-year-old Trooper Graham King and 25-year-old Trooper Ashley Thoren were both injured Friday night around 7:00 p.m.

Early investigation shows Simmons was driving southbound on Route 513 when he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him, but apparently crossed over the double yellow line and struck the two troopers head on.

Police say Simmons also struck the vehicle he was attempting to pass, but neither passenger in that car was injured.

Trooper Thoren was taken to PRMC and was released Friday night.

Trooper King was transported by helicopter to the University of Maryland Trauma Center. His condition is unknown.
