Health officials reporting 161 new COVID-19 cases, 9 new deaths in Del.

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health says there are 161 new cases and 9 new deaths from COVID-19 in the state.

Officials say the most recent deaths involved four New Castle County residents, one Kent County resident, and four Sussex County residents. The individuals ranged in age from 32 to 94, all of whom had underlying health conditions.

Delaware now has a total of 5,939 positive cases, with 2,834 in Sussex County, 945 in Kent County, and 2,130 in New Castle. Currently, 285 individuals are hospitalized, 56 of whom are critically ill.

2,110 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.
