Gov. Carney issues guidance on Phase 1 of Delaware’s reopening

WILMINGTON, Del. – On Friday, Governor John Carney released guidance on the first phase of Delaware’s reopening.

Delaware has been implementing a rolling reopening of the economy, allowing establishments to open if they can do so safely in accordance with guidance from the Delaware Division of Public Health and the CDC.

As the state enters Phase 1, citizens must continue to wear face coverings in public settings and adhere to strict social distancing guidelines. Vulnerable individuals should continue to shelter in place during Phase 1.

Businesses that will reopen during Phase 1 generally must limit capacity to 30 percent of fire code occupancy, excluding staff. Employees who have teleworking should continue to do so whenever possible, and employers should close common areas where employees are likely to congregate.

Phase 1 will begin on June 1st. For full guidance on Phase 1 in Delaware, click here.
