FDA formally approves use of 500,000 coronavirus tests in Md.
BALTIMORE, Md. – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has formally approved the use of 500,000 coronavirus tests purchased by Maryland officials from a South Korean company a few weeks ago.
Officials say the FDA gave LabGenomics emergency approval on Wednesday. Governor Larry Hogan announced the purchase on April 20th, and says that other materials needed for the test are still being ordered, although some tests have already been deployed to high-priority hot spots.
We are told that some local officials and others have questioned when they will receive the tests.
