DPH announcing 172 additional COVID-19 cases in Del.

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health says there are 172 new cases and 11 new deaths related to COVID-19 in the state.

Seven of the most recent deaths were Sussex County residents, two were from Kent County, and two were from New Castle. We’re told the individuals ranged in age from 55 to 99, and ten of the eleven had underlying health conditions.

To date, there have been a total of 6,111 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. 2,936 of those cases are in Sussex County, 963 in Kent, and 2,184 in New Castle. At this time, 289 individuals are hospitalized, 59 of whom are critically ill.

2.288 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.

Officials also say there have been a total of 450 positive cases involving long-term care residents, and 137 residents of long-term care facilities in Delaware have died from complications related to COVID-19. They have released the locations and number of deaths related to long-term care facilities, which are as follows:
