Delaware Immigrant Fund offers cash assistance for undocumented immigrants

DELMARVA – In Delaware, the Safe Communities Coalition is working on providing cash assistance to undocumented immigrants during this difficult time, but they need your help.

The group recently launched The Delaware Immigrant Fund to help provide for these families who do not qualify for federal relief and most state safety-net programs.

We’re told the team so far has raised about 11,000 dollars and that their goal is 50,000 dollars.

The group says that immigrants would have to apply for the aid and we’re told Sussex County has the greatest need.

“I want to invite our community,” said Erika Gutierrez, co-coordinator at the Safe Communities Coalition.

“I want to call for our community to give back to share resources for the ones that most need it, so this is a community effort,” said Gutierrez.

The Safe Communities Coalition says they’ll also work on growing this fund in the future for things like legal fees and medical emergencies for these families.
