Del. officials report 271 new COVID-19 cases, 13 additional deaths

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health says an additional 13 people have died as a result of the coronavirus in Delaware.

The most recent deaths involve six New Castle County residents, one was a Kent County resident, and six were Sussex County residents. We’re told they ranged in age from 21 to 94, and nine had underlying health conditions.

The state also has an additional 271 positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 7,223. 3,503 cases are in Sussex County, 2,560 in New Castle, and 1,115 in Kent. Currently, 273 people are hospitalized, 52 of whom are critically ill.

A total of 3,080 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.
