Crisfield Mayor looks to close streets to provide outdoor dining space for restaurants

CRISFIELD, Md. – A Mayor in Somerset County is working to find a way to expand outdoor dining services for restaurants in the area. Crisfield Mayor Barry Dize tells 47 ABC that he’s been working with the division of public works to close city streets to allow restaurants in the area to have outdoor dining. He says many restaurants in the area don’t have the capabilities to offer these services, so he wanted to come up with a way to help by allowing these restaurants to set up tables and chairs in the street. Dize says the pandemic has taken a huge toll on the foodservice industry in the city, that’s why the mayor feels it’s so important to come up with a plan to help.

“We’re going to help them out and do it and give them any aid that we can to help them be successful so that they can get back open and keep their businesses flowing because they’re in trouble. Our businesses are in trouble,” said Dize.

Dize says that restaurants interested in being apart of this process can contact City Hall at 410-968-1333 to get more information.
