OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Mayor and City Council of Ocean City met on Thursday to discuss the reopening of some businesses that would not conflict with Governor Hogan’s order announced at Wednesday’s press conference.

It was announced that hotels and all lodging establishments, including vacation rentals, will open at 5 p.m. tonight, May 14th. It’s unclear if hotels will need to operate at 50% capacity but one hotel tells 47ABC that they’re doing so anyway.

swimming pools will also open tonight at 5 p.m., but the local health department is looking for guidance from the state to ensure compliance with all current safety recommendations.

Restaurants will remain open for take-out and delivery only, however, the Mayor is sending a letter to the Governor to ask for guidance as to when restaurants can open outside eating areas.

Retail establishments will be opening at 50% capacity, with masks required. Masks will also be required when using the three open comfort stations on the boardwalk. Gatherings of more than 10 people are still not permitted.

Officials say those traveling from outside of Ocean City and Maryland no longer need to quarantine for 14 days.
