Beebe Health Care opens new emergency department at South Coastal Health campus

MILLVILLE, Del. – Beebe Healthcare has opened up a new free-standing emergency department in Sussex County to better serve residents in the area. As of last Tuesday, the new South Coastal Health Campus is now open to the community. Health officials tell 47ABC the department will be able to deliver 24/7 round the clock care and emergency services to those in need. They say the difference between this center is that it is not an overnight facility and aims to diagnose, treat, and discharge patients as soon as possible. But if a person is in need of further care, they’ll be able to get them over to Beebe’s main campus. Health officials add that the addition of this department is critical in making treatment more accessible for everyone.

“I think it affords them the ability to have a facility where they can seek out emergency care much closer to home, and give them the peace of mind that they can receive the same quality care that they’ve come to expect at the main emergency department and main campus,” said Medical Director for the South Coastal Emergency Department, Dr. Nick Perchiniak.

Along with having 23 patient care areas, health officials say the emergency department also has two dedicated self-isolation rooms for patients who need it, such as those who’ve contracted the coronavirus.
