Assateague opens beaches, bathrooms

BERLIN, Md. -Starting Sunday morning at 9:30, visitors will be allowed back at Assateague Island National Seashore beaches, parking areas, and bathrooms. Officials at the National Park Service announced the opening on Sunday.

Officials say nature trails will also be back open, as well as Maryland District Over Sand Vehicle Zones. The visitor center and all front and country and backcountry campgrounds will remain closed.

Officials say those visiting the area should still be cautious, and practice social distancing guidelines. People should also limit gathering to less than ten people.
