Unemployment claims in Del. ease, but still remain at record levels
DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Labor says that unemployment claims in the first state eased last week, but still remain at record high levels.
The department reported on Thursday that more than 13,250 unemployment claims were filed last week, which is down from the more than 18,800 filed the previous week, and nearly 19,000 filed the week before.
Since March 15th, more than 60,000 Delawareans have filed for unemployment, including more than 30,000 in March alone.
Officials say the previous monthly record for Delaware unemployment claim filings over the past three decades was a little more than 9,600 in January 2002.
