Sussex Co. inmate tests positive for COVID-19, Department of Correction says
GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Delaware Department of Correction says that another inmate in one of its facilities has tested positive for the coronavirus.
We’re told the inmate is from the Sussex Community Corrections Center in Georgetown. The inmate began reporting minor symptoms on April 17th and was immediately moved to isolation and given a COVID-19 test. When the test came back positive on April 19th, the inmate was moved to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center COVID treatment center, where he continues to be monitored with no fever.
This brings the state total to 21 inmates to test positive for the virus at just two DOC facilities, including 15 inmates from James T. Vaughn and 6 from the Sussex Community Corrections Center. As of this morning, only 6 inmates who tested positive are showing symptoms. None are on a ventilator.
