Structure fire in Georgetown ruled accidental

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Fire Marshals say a fire that damaged an unoccupied structure in Georgetown Wednesday morning was accidental.

The fire was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m., at a structure in the 22000 block of Simpler Branch Road. The Millsboro Fire Company and mutual aid fire companies responded to the scene.

Investigators were called to the scene and determined that the fire was caused by an adjacent controlled burn that spread to the structure.

Fire damage has been estimated at $40,000. A firefighter was taken to Beebe Hospital for evaluation in stable condition.
