Seal released at Assateague State Park

BERLIN, Md. – A team of Animal Rescue Staff from the National Aquarium traveled to Assateague State Park Wednesday morning to release a rescued seal back into the ocean.

We’re told the seal, named Huckleberry Finn, was rescued from the park on February 27th. He was extremely dehydrated, underweight, and had external signs of wounds and infection on arrival to the Aquarium’s Animal Care and Rescue Center.

During his two months of rehabilitation, officials say he gained more than 30 pounds, grew stronger, and improved his swimming skills.
