Rehoboth Beach woman faces burglary and related charges

Rehoboth Beach, DE – On Sunday, April 13, police say they arrested 33-year-old Kristin Shabazz  after an alleged assault and home break-in.

Around 11:30 a.m. police say they responded to the area of 19000 block of Central Avenue for a disorderly conduct where a victim said she allowed Shabazz to stay with her, but had recently asked her to leave. The vicitm alleged Shabazz threw an unknown object at her before running off.

Police say they tried to arrest the suspect when she was later seen walking along Coastal Highway, but she ran away into an apartment through an open window.

Before arrest police say Shabazz left approximately .05 grams of Crack Cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the back room. Three children were in the apartment at the time.

Shabazz was arrested and taken to Troop 7 where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Assault 3rd Degree
  • Burglary 2nd Degree (felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a child (3 counts)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Criminal Mischief Under $1,000.00 Damage

She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Delores J. Baylor Womens Correctional Institution on $19,100 cash bail.
