PRMC employees receive free Mountaire chicken

SALISBURY, Md. – Mountaire Farms handed out more than 30-thousand pounds of chicken to employees at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.

The poultry company brought a truck to the hospital with 784 cases and parked it outside from 7 am to 8 pm. Each employee received a 10-pound bag of fresh chicken tenders. Mountaire tells 47 ABC this is a way to thank health care workers and help during a time when grocery stores aren’t as stocked as usual.

“They’re working around the clock to keep our community safe. It’s the least that we could do to try and help them. They’re not able to get to the grocery store when everyone else is so we just wanted to do our part. Everybody in this community is doing something to help so Mountaire Farms is right here as well,” says Cathy Bassett, the director of communications and community relations for Mountaire Farms.

Mountaire is also doing the same thing for employees at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford on Thursday. They’ll be giving away about 13-thousand pounds of chicken to employees there between 7 am and 4 pm.
