Organization launches ‘hunt military heroes’ program for children of military families
DOVER, Del. – An organization that supports military families is offering a challenge for children of those military families in Delaware who are at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Officials say April is designated as the month of the Military Child, so in honor of this, the Hunt Military Communities organizations have launched their first-ever Hunt little Heroes program. As part of the program, the organization wants children of military families to share their “Hero Story” of what they think it takes to be a hero and how they’ve been a positive influence in their community. Kids have to be between the ages of 4 and 15 to submit either an essay, video, or drawing. And program organizers say this is a way to celebrate the special moments that make our military families and their children heroes right here in our communities.
“We decided to do a program that would really focus on children and all the good that they’re doing in their communities and that’s how we came up with Hunt Little Heroes. I think the level of responsibility that they have and the way that they want to give back so they’re trying to emulate what they see their parent doing and I think that is just wonderful,” said National Marketing Director for Hunt Military Communities, Lynette Hegeman.
Officials say if your child is selected as your local community’s Hunt Little Hero, they will act as “Hero for the day” at a special celebratory event at their local military community. They will also receive a Hunt Little Hero a Purple Coin as well. They add children can enter their hero stories from now until April 20th. Just head to their website here.
