Operation We Care sending care packages to sailors, healthcare workers in NY

SALISBURY, Md. – Operation We Care in Salisbury is sending care packages to crews of the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USNS Comfort who are currently docked in New York to provide extra care to COVID-19 patients. Organizers say inside these boxes include some delicious snacks like granola bars, pop tarts, trail mix, and popcorn. And they add that this is just a simple way to be able to give back to those who serve our country and are on the frontlines battling COVID-19.

“We want to give these men and women some things to get them through a tough day. They’re working 12-16 hours a day up there and we want to send the message that just because we don’t know you, doesn’t mean we don’t care about you,” said Operation We Care Founder, Jeff Meritt.

If you’re interested in helping to create care packages, you can make supply or monetary donations from the comfort of your home. Just visit operationwecare.org to see a complete shopping list or online registries.
