Open for Business: Delmarva Veteran Builders

SALISBURY, Md. – Delmarva Veteran Builders is open for business and forging ahead amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The Salisbury based construction company has jobs all across the peninsula and some projects have been put on pause but it’s the prime time to get others done.

“I think people can see the light at the end of the tunnel now,” says Chris Eccleston, the President of Delmarva Veteran Builders.

Delmarva Veteran Builders has been adjusting the way they do things to make sure everyone is as safe as possible.

“Every time a new guideline comes out we’re essentially sticking to the strictest guideline, across any of our projects, in all three states,” says Kathryn Ellis, the Senior Project Manager at Delmarva Veteran Builders. “By keeping our job sites open, clean, safe and allowing a workplace for them also keeps other individuals outside of our workforce meaning the distributors, the manufacturers of the products we’re pulling in, the truck drivers, all those different people are still staying employed and working at the same time.”

They tell 47 ABC, they’ve faced some challenges on the hospitality side of things. “We had a hotel that was going to be opening in April, they’ve now had to push back their opening date and we had a project that was supposed to start construction and now that has not started just due to COVID,” says Ellis.

But they also say there’s been a big push on projects at places like universities and government buildings while many are closed to the public and they believe their company is learning a lot during this time.

“I really challenged the team to lean in to each other and really kind of build that message of team work and I think that we’ve doubled down and I think we’ve definitely become a stronger team because of this,” says Eccleston.

Delmarva Veteran Builders also tells 47 ABC they actually have a back log of projects and they’ll be looking to hire for a few different positions once things get back to normal.
