Officials host tele-town hall to address Coronavirus scams

SALISBURY, Md. – As more and more people follow stay at home orders, more and more scams are popping up around the region.

On Wednesday, several Maryland officials hosted a tele-town hall to answer any covid-19 scam questions.

One topic of conversation was false articles that people find online, claiming that treatments for the illness exist or that some medications help more than others.

Health officials say that if you see an article like that, you should not always believe what you see.

“Before people do anything that is, you know based on something they read online in terms of treatments or prevention, it’s pretty important to talk to your doctor and make sure what you’re doing is legitimate and not more likely to cause more harm than good,” Dr. Joshua Sharfstein said during the call.
