Nice Farms Creamery in Federalsburg doing home deliveries to help business
MARYLAND–All across Delmarva, dairy farms like Nice Farms Creamery here in Federalsburg are coming up with new ways to get people their milk.
“We started a series of home delivery routes, we intended for them to be temporary to get through the pandemic,” Jaclynne Miller, Director of Operations at Nice Farms Creamery.
COVID-19 has caused this dairy farm to lose a lot of business forcing them to dump a lot of their product.
“We immediately lost 60 percent of our market, all of restaurants, coffee shops, cafes they were either closing or scaling back,” Jaclynne Miller said.
“It was very agonizing. We ended up dumping quite a bit of milk there for the first couple of weeks,” Bob Miller, the owner of Nice Farms Creamery, said.
To stay afloat, Nice Farms Creamery started doing home deliveries.
“In Federalsburg, our first week we had like 15 deliveries and last week we had 50, so it’s grown,” Jaclynne Miller said.
We’re told, Nice Farms Creamery enjoys doing these deliveries because they’re mutually beneficial to both them and their customers.
“It’s long hours and it is tiresome but at the end of the day we are helping people and you know these people need help you know when times get tough you gotta go local,” Jaclynne Miller said.
