UPDATE: One person injured in late night shooting in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police are actively investigating a shooting that injured a 38-year-old woman Monday night.
Police say the incident happened shortly after 9:30 p.m., in the 800 block of Miami Avenue. On arrival, police met with the victim who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to her leg, rendering aid until EMS responded the scene. We’re told she is undergoing treatment at Peninsula Regional Medical Center at this time.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect knocked on the door of the victim’s home, identifying himself as her cousin. When she opened the door, the suspect reportedly aimed a gun at her and demanded money, then shot her in the leg and fled the scene.
Troopers secured a perimeter, searched the area, and conducted neighborhood checks. Crime scene techs from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division responded to gather evidence and process the scene, and deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department also responded to assist.
The suspect is described as as a male, 5’7″, 130-140 pounds, wearing black pants with a dark green hooded sweatshirt. Witnesses told police he was wearing a black face mask and no gloves at the time of the incident.
