Long time OC Tourism Director passes

1280 Donna Abbott

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Town of Ocean City officials announced on Wednesday that the town’s long time Tourism Director Donna Abbott has passed away.

We’re told that Abbott passed away on Wednesday after a ferocious fight with cancer. During Abbott’s time in the position, she oversaw destination marketing and worked closely with the Town’s advertising agency to promote Ocean City as a premier vacation destination.

“Donna dedicated nearly 23 years of her life to the Town of Ocean City. She was as devoted as they come and was passionate about destination marketing. She was highly respected by everyone who knew her and her loss will be felt in Ocean City and throughout the State of Maryland,” said Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan in a statement.

Meehan also added that Abbott was a fabulous colleague and fantastic mother, grandmother, and a dear friend.

“Ocean City won’t be the same without her, but I am confident the legacy she left the Town will last forever,” Meehan added.
