Library staff uses 3D printing to make face shields for health care workers

DENTON, Md. – In Denton, the Caroline County Public Library’s 3D printing team is stepping up to the plate to help provide protective face shields for healthcare workers and first responders.

The library staff has already created hundreds of these face shields using the 3D printers from their Makerspace all while practicing social distancing.

Some of these masks are now at the Choptank Community Health as well as the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services, says John Courie, the Caroline County Public Library IT Manager.

Courie says they’re looking to make a difference in their community.

“Because of the supply shortages that we’re seeing on a national level, a lot of direct care workers are putting themselves into scenarios where they’re using less than optimal equipment, so this is a way of bridging that gap, so they can make sure they’re protected as best as possible,” said Courie.
