Georgetown man arrested in connection to multiple shots fired complaints

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Police say they arrested a Georgetown man Sunday evening on charges stemming from multiple shots fired complaints.

Troopers were called to the area of Briarwood Road in Georgetown at around 7:20 p.m. after receiving a report of shots fired in the area. On arrival, a resident told police that they heard gunshots from their residence and saw a blue Toyota Corolla traveling on Briarwood Road.

A second report of shots fired was then received in the area of Shingle Point Road. A trooper saw a blue Toyota Corolla matching the registration provided by a witness traveling northbound on Sand Hill Road, approaching Sand Hill Lane.

Troopers stopped the vehicle and on contact with the driver, a 24-year-old Georgetown man, and passenger, 23-year-old Jeff Cotonon-Ramos, an odor of alcohol was detected coming from inside the vehicle. Further investigation led to the discovery of a firearm with 9mm round casings on the passenger’s side floor of the vehicle. There were no injuries or reports of anything being struck as a result of this incident.

Both occupants of the vehicle were subsequently taken into custody. Cotonon-Ramos was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, disorderly conduct, and failure to obey an emergency order. He was held at SCI on $5,500 secured bond.

The 24-year-old male driver was charged with driving a vehicle under the influence, failure to obey an emergency order, and third degree conspiracy. He was held at SCI on $3,000 cash only bond.
