CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Dorchester County Public Schools officials have announced this year’s Teacher of the Year and First-Class Teacher of the Year.

This year’s Teacher of the Year is Cherie Robinson. Robinson is a 30-year teaching veteran who teaches 11th and 12th grade aspiring educators at the Teacher Academy of Maryland at the Dorchester Career and Technology Center. We’re told this is the second year in a row that a CTE teacher has been named Teacher of the Year.

Robinson will now represent Dorchester County at the annual Maryland Teacher of the Year event, held in Baltimore in the fall.

This year’s First-Class Teacher of the Year for Dorchester County Public Schools is Hannah Abt, a pre-kindergarten teacher at Choptank Elementary School. Officials say this is a locally sponsored recognition that recognizes a first-year teacher of exceptional promise.
