DEVELOPING: Police-involved shooting under investigation in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Police tell us the trooper involved shooting that happened in Salisbury Wednesday morning involved a man who was threatening suicide.

Police say they responded to the 27000 block of Sunbury Court shortly after 10 a.m. after receiving a call of a suicidal person. According to preliminary investigation, three uniformed troopers found the 59-year-old man in the back yard of his home and saw he was armed with a handgun. The man reportedly refused several orders to put down his weapon and pleas that he did not have to do this.

It is reported that during the confrontation, three troopers fired their weapons. Medical response was immediately called for the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

As of right now a criminal investigation is underway, which is a procedure in a trooper-involved shooting.
