Delay Of Game: Indian River’s Colby Hook
The senior golfer reflects on a lost senior season, moves forward with college plans
SALISBURY, Md- Indian River senior golfer Colby Hook was among thousands of Delaware high school students gearing up for the spring sports season in early March when first word of the Coronavirus began circulating on Delmarva. On Friday, April 24th–the state of Delaware would cancel school for the remainder of the year, taking Colby’s senior season with it.
“When I first heard about it, I was like we’re going to shut down for a while or whatever it may be, I never thought it would turn into this,” said the 2020 graduate, “It’s something that everybody has to adjust to, and it’s definitely a new normal.”
Not all is lost for Hook–the senior will be taking his talents to St. Petersburg, Florida on a scholarship to play golf at Eckerd College. “I’m super stoked to be able to go down to Florida and play Division II golf, and have nice weather all year round and get to practice 365 days a year.”
