Delaware State Fair still a go, but concerts get canceled
HARRINGTON, Del. – On Monday, officials with the Delaware State Fair announced that all concerts that were scheduled to take place this year at the fair are now canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite this change, organizers still plan to host this year’s state fair in July. Assistant General Manager for the fair, Danny Aguilar, tells 47 ABC the decision didn’t come easy, but they wanted to do what they could to help curb the spread of the virus. Aguilar adds that his team is still in planning mode for the fair, but says there are going to be a lot more changes made in order to keep fairgoers safe an healthy.
“We certainly are disappointed at the loss of our grandstand, but our goal is still to put on a safe fair. Look at ways that we can social distance. It’s not going to look the same as folks have grown accustomed to,” said Aguilar.
Aguilar says that if you purchased concert tickets directly through the state fair, you will be able to get a full refund. But he adds if you purchased tickets through a second source, you’re encouraged to reach out to that service to see what they can do to accommodate you.
