Del. schools to remain closed until May 18th, additional updates from Gov. Carney

DOVER, Del. – Governor John Carney held a press conference Friday afternoon to provide updates on COVID-19 in the state of Delaware.

He announced that schools in the state will remain closed until May 18th, with updates coming if necessary. He emphasized that there is not enough information yet to make a decision regarding the remainder of the year.

Carney also said that as of Thursday, there are 2,075 positive cases in Delaware, with 52 deaths. He said that officials are seeing an increase in positive cases in Sussex County.

He reminded citizens to continue social distancing and wearing masks when going out in public.
