Crisfield woman charged with DUI following crash

FRUITLAND, Md. – Maryland State Police say a Crisfield woman was charged with DUI after getting into a crash Tuesday afternoon in Fruitland.

According to police, the incident happened at around 4:50 p.m., in the area of St. Luke’s Road and E. Cedar Lane. Troopers arrived on scene, and preliminary investigation revealed that a GMC truck failed to reduce speed to avoid a rear end collision with a Chevrolet passenger car.

Troopers say when they made contact with the driver of the GMC, 35-year-old Marlo Burke, they had reason to believe she was driving under the influence of alcohol. Burke requested medical attention for apparent injuries from the collision and was taken to PRMC for treatment.

Burke reportedly refused to submit to field sobriety tests. Troopers say she was charged with DUI and other various charges related to the crash.
