BERLIN, Md. – Atlantic General Hospital announced on Thursday that through the Blood Bank of Delmarva, they are participating in a study to provide convalescent plasma to treat patients with the coronavirus.

Hospital officials say the goal of this is to use the antibodies in the plasma of former coronavirus patients who are now health to help current patients fight the virus. We’re told the hospital enrolled and transfused their first patient on Friday, April 24th.

The Blood Bank of Delmarva is accepting plasma donations from those who have recovered from coronavirus and are now asymptomatic. Plasma donors must have tested positive for coronavirus and have been symptom free for 28 days. We’re told those who have been symptom free for 14 days can also donate if they test negative to ensure they no longer have the virus.
