10 new deaths, 186 new COVID-19 cases reported in Delaware

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health announced Tuesday afternoon that ten more people have died from complications of the coronavirus in the state.

We’re told all ten individuals had underlying health conditions, and ranged in age from 32 to 103 years old. All were either hospitalized or living in a long-term care facility.

In addition, 186 new cases have been confirmed in the state, bringing the total to 2,931. New Castle and Sussex Counties each have over 1,000 cases, while Kent County has 459.

263 people are hospitalized at this time, 71 of whom are critically ill. A total of 565 Delawareans have made a full recovery.

As of 6 p.m. Monday, there have been 218 positive cases involving residents of long-term care facilities in Delaware. 48 residents of these facilities have died from complications of the virus.

The locations and number of deaths per long term care facility is as follows:

  • Milford Center, Genesis Healthcare: 18
  • Little Sisters of the Poor, Newark: 11
  • Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center: 2
  • Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation: 2
  • Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation and Health Center: 2
  • New Castle Health and Rehabilitation Center: 2
  • Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill: 2
  • Governor Bacon Health Center: 1
  • Three other New Castle County long term care facilities: 1 death at each facility
  • Two other Sussex County long term care facilities: 1 death at each facility
