Worcester County mayors ask for EMS Task Force

BERLIN, Md. – Residents in Worcester County could soon have quicker, more reliable responses to emergencies and it’s all thanks to the mayors in the county banding together.

On Tuesday, Berlin Mayor Gee Williams, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan, Snow Hill Mayor Gary Weber, and Pocomoke Mayor Bruce Morrison all presented a letter to the County Commissioners requesting that an EMS task force be created.

Berlin Mayor Williams say right now, some areas throughout the county have delayed response times solely because of their geographic area.

That’s something, among other things, that he says the task force would address.

“The job would be to come up with a new way of funding that’s equitable, where all members would be looking at the practical side of providing EMS services,” Mayor Williams said.

Mayor Williams says right now the County Commissioners have the letter from the mayors, and he’s hopeful that they can work together to come up with a solution.
