Town of Delmar to begin sidewalk improvement project

DELMAR, Md. – In just a few days, the Town of Delmar will begin their sidewalk improvement project to improve safety for pedestrians.

Town officials tell 47ABC crews will begin this upcoming Saturday.

We are told sidewalk improvements will extend between East State Street in Delmar, Maryland until East Walnut on Second Street in Delmar, Maryland.

Town officials say sidewalks are not leveled making it unsafe for both pedestrians and drivers.

They say this project is thanks to federal grant money and the State Highway Administration.

“The sidewalk on the east side of the street is torn and broken, uprooted by trees,” said William Hardin, the town’s community development coordinator.

“It’s not a good path and so that encouraged the town to seek out the grant and be awarded the grant,” said Hardin.

Town officials say they hope to see the project complete by the middle of this year.
