GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Sussex County Family Courthouse is currently closed after an employee became ill Friday morning with symptoms consistent with the coronavirus.

We’re told that the employee was at the security checkpoint and was taken to a medical facility by ambulance. The Family Court building was immediately cleared, all court calendars were suspended, and employees were sent home. The Courthouse is now closed for cleaning and decontamination procedures.

Individuals who were in close contact with the employee have been notified and provided with instructions to limit their social interactions and self-quarantine at home.

The Courthouse is expected to reopen once cleaning and decontamination has been completed. All employees who were in contact with the individual will remain on self-quarantine for at least 14 days or until test results come back negative for COVID-19.
