SU will remain open for essential services during outbreak
SALISBURY, Md. – Despite the restrictions being placed on public areas, state officials have announced that Maryland universities will continue to remain open for essential research and for international students who cannot go home amid the outbreak.
Salisbury University tells 47ABC right now there are currently about 100 students left on campus and many of them are international students who are in need of dining and housing.
We are told ten SU students had also applied to stay on campus for research purposes some of which involve live animals that need to be taken care of.
“It’s important that SU allows the students to be here who have a necessity to be here,” said the Salisbury University Director of Public Relations Jason Rhodes.
“Again, students who aren’t able to go home because home is very far away and in some cases entrance into their countries are banned and it’s important to allow research to continue,” said Rhodes.
According to officials, nearly all staff and faculty in the university system have begun working remotely as well.
