Small businesses close to slow coronavirus outbreak
FRUITLAND, Md. – More and more local businesses across the Eastern Shore are being forced to shut down completely as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
In Fruitland, the local gymnastics training facility Beach Bounders closed its doors just a few days ago.
The owner Terri Mueller tells us hundreds of kids who train at the facility have been impacted by the shutdown, but she says safety comes first.
Although she and other business owners understand the need to close they are worried about how long the closures will last.
“Those of us that have had to close completely, we really are in a state where we don’t know what’s going to happen,” said Mueller.
“We don’t know if we’re going to be closed two weeks or eight weeks, we don’t know when or if income is going to come back through the door, so we have to get a financial plan in place as to how we’re going to talk to our creditors and figure things out from here on,” said Mueller.
Mueller tells 47ABC that she is looking to provide daily exercises for her students on Facebook to help keep her business alive and to keep her kids active.
