Shepherds Office offering meals to go

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Resource groups across the state are still trying to help the homeless through these tough times, and the Shepherds Office, in Georgetown, is just one of the many.

During this time of places closing their doors, the Shepherds Office is helping the homeless in a different way.

Because they have to practice social distancing and cannot have anyone stay to eat in their dining room,  they are giving the homeless bagged meals with sandwiches and snacks that they can’t take to go.

“We do wanna practice social distancing because we understand it will save lives, but at the same time we know people are hungry. So, we want to stay in the front lines and continue our work, so I think we found a good way to do it,” Jim Martin, Director of Shepherds Office, said.

We are told the hours for meals on the go are posted on their Facebook and facility door.

Volunteers who wish to help during this time are gladly welcomed.
