Restoring Central Dover seeks to help increase voter participation
DOVER, Del. – A group in Dover is pushing to get more people to cast their ballot in this upcoming presidential election, but they need your help.
The group called Restoring Central Dover is launching a campaign to get more people to vote.
Members tell us right now they have a little over 20 volunteers helping them do this, but they need more help to raise awareness about voting as well as census participation.
A spokesperson for the group says getting more people to cast their ballot is critical not only on a national level but at a local level as well.
“For instance, our school board elections,” said Chanda Jackson, community engagement specialist for Restoring Central Dover.
“We don’t receive a lot of turnouts, but I think it’s important because we all have a voice and we want to make sure we elect the person that best meets the needs of the community as a whole,” said Jackson.
Restoring Central Dover and Delaware State University will be hosting a voting and census forum on April 4th at the Schwartz Center for the Arts.
