Rehoboth Beach closes non-essential businesses early

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -Rehoboth Beach officials closed non-essential businesses a little early Monday to further prevent the spread of coronavirus. You may recall that Governor John Carney had ordered all non-essential businesses to close down starting Tuesday morning. But the Mayor of Rehoboth Beach, Paul Kuhns, ordered non-essential businesses to instead close at 4 PM Monday because he felt an earlier shutdown was necessary.  The mayor says if need be, he will take further action if people don’t respect the social distancing guidelines.

“I had spoken with the Governor last night and gave him our perspective here in town that we were going to do it a little bit earlier. We felt for safety purposes, we’ve got to get out in front of this as much as the Governor’s doing, and if there’s any more that we can do for our citizens we will,” said Kuhns.

Mayor Kuhns adds that as of now people are also not allowed to walk, bike, or walk their pets on the beach or boardwalk until further notice.
