Peninsula Regional Health System to evaluate surgeries for possible cancellations
SALISBURY, Md. – Officials with the Peninsula Regional Health System say that they will begin canceling elective, non-emergency surgeries on Monday, March 23rd, as part of an effort to conserve and direct resources to the highest areas of need during the coronavirus outbreak.
We’re told that not every surgery will stop on Monday; all surgeries will be evaluated and those can be canceled will be. The medical staff has agreed on a set of criteria to determine which surgeries will be canceled and when. Patients will be notified ahead of time.
Patients with questions should call their surgeon’s office to confirm whether or not their surgery is still going forward.
