Open for Business: Local pharmacy makes changes amid outbreak

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – With coronavirus cases on the rise, there is a local pharmacy in Cambridge that is doing everything it can to meet new demands.

“For the very beginning, there were a lot of calls and then every time Hogan speaks and goes live on social media the calls are just crazy the rest of the day,” said Abby Leonard, a pharmacist at Clayton’s Pharmacy.

The owner of Clayton’s Pharmacy Lisa Moorhead tells us people in the community are depending on them to help clear up concerns about whether they would be able to get their medicine and she says they got a rough start.

“We had people asking us what was happening and then we were trying to reassure them without really knowing if we were going to be able to get all the meds for how long and how that was going to go,” said Moorhead.

She says they are also pushing to help meet new demands for critical items like hand sanitizer and other medical supplies.

“We have constant calls if we have masks or hand sanitizer or Lysol, alcohol, that kind of thing, which nobody can really get right now,” said Moorhead.

In order to keep up this team says they are ramping up their free delivery services and providing curbside pick up while following state mandates.

“So they call from their car then we’ll go out,” said Leonard.

“It was a rough start, but now it’s actually going really good,” Leonard.

And while people in the community tell us they are grateful that they are able to get the support they need these health workers say they are just glad to help.

Clayton’s Pharmacy says they are taking all steps necessary to keep both employees and patients healthy while helping to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
