OCPD investigating woman claiming to have tested positive for COVID-19

WORCESTER CO., Md. – The Ocean City Police Department says it is investigating after a woman posted a video on Facebook saying she tested positive for COVID-19.

According to officials, a Maryland woman made a post on Facebook claiming to have the coronavirus and says she visited several establishments in the Ocean City area this past weekend. “The Worcester County Health Deptartment does not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19. Our officers are currently speaking with the individual who claimed to test positive and will confirm the information with the appropriate health department & county. As soon as we have more information, we will post and update.”

Ocean City Police originally said the woman was from Salisbury. However, she has said on Facebook that she lives in Howard County and works in Montgomery County. The woman also shared a screenshot of what appears to be test results from a COVID-19 test saying that she tested positive for the virus.

The department also originally said, “We have consulted with our Emergency Management Partners locally and at the state level along with the health department. Her claim has been ruled false through official channels.” However, they say they are now talking to health officials to confirm again.
