Maryland State Police to enforce Gov. Hogan’s stay-at-home order
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland state troopers are now taking steps to enforce Governor Hogan’s executive order for Marylanders to stay home.
Maryland State Police say they won’t go out of their way to stop drivers and ask them whether their trip is essential.
However, if a driver involved in an accident or a traffic stop and officers find out they are engaging in non-essential travel they will take action.
Officials say troopers will also take action if they spot any groups of more than 10 people.
“If for some reason we do make a traffic stop, we would probably just ask what are you doing and just be honest,” said Lt. Chris Davala with the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack.
“We understand that when one’s in a situation, we’re all trying to understand, we’re trying to go to and from and there are people that are required to be working, we know that,” said Davala, “So again, just use common sense.”
According to Lieutenant Davala, there have been at least two arrests in the state for violating the governor’s executive order.
