Investigation underway after human remains found in Selbyville
SELBYVILLE, Md. – “It was just shocking,” said Sterling Chandler.
“My mother called me at work and she’s here by herself at night most of the time,” said Chandler, a Selbyville resident.
Sterling Chandler says he and his mom are in disbelief after they learned that human remains were found right in front of their home Monday night in Selbyville.
“I never would have thought and I go and check out the mailbox across the street,” said Chandler.
“She goes across the street and checks out the mailbox, but who would have thought there was a body that close to the mailbox right there in the woods,” said Chandler.
Delaware State Police say they got reports that someone had found human remains in a wooded area near the intersection of Polly Branch Road and Roxana Road.
Chandler tells us his mom saw police lights and then watched police take human remains out of this area.
“So close to the house, so close to her and everything,” said Chandler, “It was just startling it really makes you think.”
Other people we spoke to say things like this just do not happen where they live and now they are left with a whole lot of questions but no answers and that has left many uneasy.
“You have kids that play a lot,” said Jordan Fisher, a Selbyville resident.
“It’s just something that is out of the ordinary, so it’s shocking to everyone here I’m sure,” said Fisher.
