First responders taking precautions due to coronavirus outbreak

SALISBURY, Md. – In addition to those in hospitals, one group that may be exposed to the coronavirus more than the average person is our first responders.

The Salisbury Fire Department tells 47 ABC that dispatch will be asking callers more questions, such as if they’ve been traveling, or have a fever and flu-like symptoms. If responders think coronavirus might be a risk, they’ll put on a gown, safety gloves, and eye protection, and will ask the patient to wear a surgical mask.

First responders are encouraging people to call Maryland’s Crisis Hotline at 211 for more information about coronavirus.
