Delaware Dept. Of Corrections suspends visitation

DOVER, De. – The Delaware Department of Correction (DOC) announces Thursday it’s temporarily suspending visitation to all of its Level 5 prison and level 6 work release and violation of probation facilities.

DOC says they’re doing this as a precaution to protect inmates and staff from Coronavirus.

This comes as the state of Delaware announces the first presumptive positive Coronavirus diagnosis in the state.

Although Visitation is temporarily suspended, the DOC says you can still interact with inmates through phone and video.

In January the DOC started screening symptoms of respiratory illness for inmates, staff, and volunteers during the flu season.

They also screened inmates at intake if they traveled outside the US because of the ongoing spread of Coronavirus in China.

The DOC says they will reassess its prevention measures on an ongoing basis.
