Del. Department of Corrections offering free inmate phone calls during coronavirus outbreak

DOVER, Del. – Effective today, March 16th, inmates will get free phone calls in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

All inmates at every Level V prison and Level IV Violation of Probation and Work Release facility will get two free five-minute phone calls per week, in an effort to facilitate communication between inmates in custody and their families while visitation is suspended.

The Department of Correction offers a variety of phone and video visitation, and while visitation is suspended, the use of video visitation will be increased as it is available.

In addition to the temporary suspension of visitation, the DOC is taking other measures, including enhanced screen of all those entering its facilities to minimize the spread of coronavirus to facilities.
